Quadruple Therapy and Mortality After Hospitalization for Heart Failure
Example abstract
Abstract
Guideline-directed medical therapy improves survival in heart failure, yet uptake after discharge remains low. Among 1,284 adults discharged after hospitalization, quadruple therapy at 90 days was associated with lower 1-year mortality (HR, 0.62; 95% CI, 0.48–0.80).

Introduction
Heart failure affects more than 64 million people worldwide.1 Four drug classes each reduce mortality in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction,2–4 yet fewer than a third of patients receive all four after discharge.5
Figure 1. Illustrative survival curves using synthetic values.
Methods
We conducted a retrospective cohort study of adults discharged after a first hospitalization for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction at three academic medical centers between 2019 and 2023.
